FILTER MEDIA - Genuine Japanese Matting

Blue Japanese filter matting is available from stock. Due to its coarse nature it has excellent bio-mass retention and its open texture removes larger particles from the water.

Available in sheets of 2 metre x 1 metre and 35 mm thick.

FILTER MEDIA - Evolution Aqua K1

K1 Kaldness filter media

Kaldnes Moving BedT process, which has been scientifically tried and tested in fish farming and waste water treatment is exclusively distributed by Evolution Aqua. The media is engineered in a wheel shape and is slightly positively buoyant, allowing a small amount of water flow (created by adding air to the process) to circulate the media throughout the vessel. Oxygen and food (ammonia and nitrite) gives the bacteria the means to grow, whilst the Kaldnes media provides maximum surface area for the bacteria to colonise and produce bio film.

FILTER MEDIA - Evolution Aqua K3 Filter Media

K3 Media uses the same technology as K1, however it is larger and is suitable for retrofit of existing filters such as vortex systems.

K3 media will allow you to feed up to 225grms of food per day

FILTER MEDIA - Evolution Aqua Bio-Chip Filter Media

Since the development of the Kaldness moving bed process and its successful introduction into the Koi world Evolution Aqua has now introduced this media to aid the K1 process in a Nexus unit or K1 biological chamber.
The main difference to k1 is that the protected area or quiet zone in a Bio chip is designed for the micro-animals not just bacteria. The extreme quiet zones created by the hydrophilic layer protecting every cavity in the bio chip is critical to allow there micro animals to flourish.
These micro-animals feed on small particles, single cell algae and have many other attributes. It is these small particles that are always difficult to remove by mechanical means and make our water cloudy!

The recommended rate is 25ltrs per 100ltrs of K1

Flocor is a plastic filter media that is made up from corrugated plastic tubing cut into short lengths

It's very popular in small biological pond filters, as it is relatively cheap and has a large surface area for bacteria to develop on.

FILTER MEDIA - Crushed Oyster Shell

Crushed Medium Pieces - Crushed medium grade pieces approx 15mm-25mm.This is an alternative to the full size shell, but in a crushed format, giving large surface areas of contact to the water flow.Supplied in a 20kg plastic bag. These are genuine Pacific Oyster shells and are a superb method to buffer and maintain a constant pH to your Koi pond.

Filter media bags are available to retain the shell, which can then be ready for total immersion into the filter.

This is exactly the same media that 9 out of 10 Japanese breeders keep in their filtration systems.
